College courses – developing a vibrant learning community
West Regional College has just launched its first ever Academy of Excellence,
offering all staff the chance to further their skillsby enrolling on OCN
new initiative will provide training and accredited courses which can be
accessed by both teaching and support staff to develop and enhance best
practice and skills.
Four courses will be made initially available to staff, all of which have their own bespoke
design and have been accredited by OCN.
Certificate in Advanced
Teaching Practice (Level 5). – This qualification is designed to give
experienced teachers the opportunity to extend and develop their skills. The
Academy has developed this qualification to enable lecturers to gain new
insights and creative solutions that make a real impact on their practice. The
course aims to support, develop and enhance innovative practice in education.
Education and Training (Level 4)This
qualification is designed to provide
an introduction to education. It is suitable for those who do not hold a
Diploma in Leading
Quality Improvement.(Level 5) This course offers support
staff the opportunity to work on an improvement project based on their own
All of these courses are fully supported by the College and it is envisaged
that further courses will be added in the future.
Academy aims to promote excellence, innovation and scholarship across the College.
It will provide a forum for staff, who teach and support student learning, to
share best practice and will encourage an evidence based approach to learning
and teaching. The Academy is dedicated to providing access to workshops,
qualifications and opportunities for engagement and development.
